June 2014

In Stirling, there’s much happening in June with three great celebrations taking place over one weekend: Bannockburn Live, Armed Forces Day and Pipefest.

Bannockburn Live

bills itself as a feast of food, music and history and takes place at Bannockburn by Stirling over the weekend of 28 and 29 June. For more information, visit Bannockburn Live.

Armed Forces Day

is a UK wide event, is free to attend and is being held on 28 June. Go here for more detailed information.

Pipefest

Marching from the gates of Stirking Castle to mark the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn, thousands of pipers and drummers will parade through the city. Click here to go to the official site.

Royal Highland Show

19 – 22 June, Newbridge/Edinburgh.

Scottish Diaspora Tapestry Exhibition. Something a little different at the MacRobert Centre, Stirling University where the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry will be on display between 24 June and 23 July. Note: The MacRobert Centre is closed on Mondays. More information can be found here.

RYDER CUP

Scotland, the home of golf, plays host to the greatest tournament in match play golf just a short distance up the road at Gleneagles. Easy to get to from Stirling by car, train or excpress bus. There are two websites of interest: rydercup2014.com/ and 2014 Team Europe Ryder Cup.
