Hello,

In my spare time, I’m a keen cyclist.

Fortunately, the days are getting longer and the weather a little warmer.

A member of the Stirling Belles, a cycle group for women in the Stirling area, there are regular social rides.

Belles on Bikes aims to support women to get cycling together in a friendly, relaxed and inclusive environment.

I also enjoy the weekly recreational rides organized by the Stirling Cycle Club.

Last year I competed in the ladies 100 km, participated in an event in support of the Parkinson’s Charity and took part in the 50 miles Glasgow to Edinburgh PedalForScotland event.

I’m looking forward to doing even more cycling this year!

The mobile site has just been enhanced and I am delighted with the result. Go here to take a look for yourself.

I am pretty keen on cycling. Good exercise and good company. Any guest interested in cycling should speak to me about hiring a bike. I can help with interesting routes. Click here to go to the Stirling “rent a bike” page.

There’s already a good page at my site listing much of what’s going on in Stirling and roundabout as part of Homecoming Scotland 2014 here

Here’s another even more detailed page which includes absolutely everything that’s happening in the Stirling area. Please bear in mind it’s in alphabetical rather than date order. So it helps if you know what you’re looking for.

All for today.  Speak to you again soon.

Hello,

My name is Alison Cowie, owner of The Old Tram-House 4* Bed & Breakfast in Stirling, Scotland.

This year, Scotland and The Old Tram-House welcome the world and you’re invited to the party!

A year packed with brilliant moments, Homecoming Scotland 2014 is serving up a fantastic mix of events and festivals that celebrates the very best of Scotland.

Many of the events are taking place here in Stirling or within easy reach of the city.

Scotland is also playing host to The Commonwealth Games and The 40th Ryder Cup a short distance away at Gleneagles.

For details of all the exciting events  in or near Stirling, click here.

Here at the Old Tram-House B&B, the guest lounge, dining room, entrance hall, bedrooms and bathrooms were all completely upgraded and redecorated in January 2014.

I was also delighted to again be awarded TripAdvisor’s coveted Certificate of Excellence for 2014.  You’ll see it over to the right!

alison_cowie_newI was delighted to read that the influential travel guide, Lonely Planet, has just voted Scotland 3rd best country in the world to visit in 2014, following which this video was released yesterday, 30 October. Click here to view at YouTube. [Opens in a new tab/window]

There are certainly many world class events taking place in Scotland during 2014. There’s the Ryder Cup golf tournament at Gleneagles, the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and 2014 is also Scotland’s year of Homecoming.

Both Gleneagles and Glasgow (also Edinburgh, our capital city) are within easy travelling distance by car. There are also frequent fast connections by train and express bus.

According to Lonely Planet, Edinburgh is the ‘most gothic city outside Transylvania’ and Glasgow has never ‘looked so good’ Who am I to disagree!

And, of course, here in Stirling, there is much to see, with Stirling Castle, Bannockburn, the National Wallace Monument just a short walk from The Old Tram-House and stunning scenery on the doorstep.

At the time of writing, I still have rooms available but suggest you may like to book early, especially if you plan to be attending the Ryder Cup and/or the Commonwealth Games.

Please be sure to check my Special Offers and Direct Special Offers.

I hope very much to have the pleasure of welcoming you to The Old Tram-House B&B, Stirling in 2014. It’s going to be an eventful year!

alison_cowie3Hi there,

My name is Alison Cowie, owner of The Old Tram-House 4* Bed & Breakfast in Stirling, Scotland.

The National Wallace Monument can be one of the high points of your visit to Stirling and is less than 15 minutes’ walk from The Old Tram-House. It’s just 0.5 miles / 0.8 km from the front door.

Click here for more about The National Wallace Monument and learn about the fascinating story of Sir William Wallace (Braveheart).

Turn left on leaving The Old Tram-House and walk up Causewayhead Road (A9) until you reach the Causewayhead roundabout.

At the roundabout, you need to cross over and take the 2nd exit onto Logie Road (B998).

Turn right onto Hillfoots Road (B998).

Turn right onto Marsden Court and you are there.

You can also take First Bus Service #60 and get off at The National Wallace Monument car park. It’s a 9 minute journey.

alison_cowie3Hi there,

My name is Alison Cowie, owner of The Old Tram-House 4* Bed & Breakfast in Stirling, Scotland.

The Old Tram-House is ideally situated for anyone visiting the University of Stirling.

There are frequent buses passing the door or it’s an easy and agreeable walk.

If the weather is fine and you would like to walk, here are directions:

Turn left on leaving The Old Tram-House and walk up Causewayhead Road until you reach the Causewayhead roundabout.

Turn left again at the Causewayhead roundabout and follow the path along until you arrive at the pelican crossing at Wallace High School where you should cross over to the pavement opposite.

Continue along the main road which is the A9. Then you can either access the University via:

1) the entrance to the Scottish Institute of Sport (quite a steep climb, with the University’s sports facilities on your left) which brings you out opposite the main Cottrell Building car park.
or
2) the University’s main entrance (accessed by continuing past the turn off for the Scottish Institute of Sport). At the main entrance you should cross over the road to access the footpath which runs from the main entrance to the campus itself.

Stirling’s leading arts venue, the Macrobert, is also located on the University campus.

May I remind you to check my Special Offers and Direct Special Offers. I also invite you to subscribe to my Newsletter so I can keep you up-to-date with the latest news and offers from The Old Tram-House.
